Help!!!

I need advise prompt please.....i noticed this morning that i was missing one of my three Corydoras julii's and assumed he was under the bogwood, i had to go out for the day and only to come back and still not see him anywhere in the tank.

As it is my water change day i have taken a few plants out only to find a half piece or chomped or rotten Corydoras julii in the middle of the plantation.

I can't tell weather or not he has been killed or had become trapped in the plant.

I have not done anything different to my tank or added any different additives than the normal water conditioner and salt.

I did add two Blue rams to the tank yesterday and everything seemed ok!

Fish in the tank as follows:
1 Betta
2 Blue Rams
Now 2 Corydoras julii's
1 Bristlenose Catfish
5 Pentazona Barbs
5 Harlequin Rasbora's

The only ones if any i think may have killed him was the rams or the bristlenose but im not sure....so i turn to you guys for help please????

i would say that the rams are probably the culprit. cories are bottom dwellers. more than likely it went snooping in the rams territory and got it. i would move the rams. depending on the sex of the rams if you have a pair they can get quite nasty when breeding.

how big is this tank?

Hi samper fi,
thank you for posting the tank is only 6.6 uk gallons and yes i have a pair although i'm not sure wether it was trapped it did look lodged in the plant i have two others that are fine, the rams have made there selfs known by holding an area to themselfs and if any fish goes near them the stare at them an eyeball them till think otherwise.

The LFS has been great with helping and advising me and he did say they would be fine with all the other fish i have so im really upset by all this because i have not lossed any fish since i started my tanks 6 months ago.

Thank you do you have any other ideas at all?

imo the problem is the size of the tank. rams need a 20 gallon minimum. while they are good with the species you listed, they do not have enough room to feel their territory is theirs.

ok i see what your saying and i appreciate it and i have noticed that no one else as even bothered compared with the amount thats veiwed.

Do you think that they maybe more problems ahead as i have watched them closlely since i had them yesterday and even now they do not bother any other fish even the other jullii's or is this just the mood they are in??

Like i say thank you very much for helping, do the rams actually nip or do they just ram like there name says as i have seen star the name for one of the rams do this?

I am pretty sure it is because the tank is too small, i think u will have to bring some fish back to ur fish shop -_-

i would give the rams a larger home.

rams is a trade name. scientific name is microgeophagus ramerizi. ram is short for ramerizi. most cichlids will ram subdominant fish causing internal injuries. cichlids will also lip lock to to wear down their victim to gain dominance.

Ok mate i understand now, i have been busy and unable to check the posts on here till now and would like to say i have been watching the fish since sunday and they all seem to be happy together do you still advise me to move them to a larger tank still?

I have had my tanks now for 6 months so i can learn and get ready for a bigger tank once i have saved the money up anyway, i did'nt want to rush into fish keeping with a big tank a loads of fish so i did it this way.

i'm a little unhappy with the LFS too they knew what tank i have as i had purchased it from them so £ ching ching in their eyes i guess.

Thanks samper fi and kevin for all your help..
