My Corydoras Adolphi have been breeding again - only this time I got to the eggs in time to move them to a separate tank. I now have 14 fry that have hatched in the last couple of hours, plus about 10 more eggs to go. The eggs are in a breeding trap in a 16" X 8" X 8" tank and the newly hatched fy have exited the trap. I am currently feeding them on Liquifry. There's good filatration running in the tank, pH 7.0 and the temperature is at 25 degrees C. A few questions:

1. Do I leave the breeding trap in there once they have hatched just to give them somewhere to hide if they want it?
2. Do you suggest adding anything else to the water other than the Liquifry food? i.e. are any treatments recommended
3. How big do the fry need to be before I start weaning them onto adult food?
4. How often does the fry tank need cleaning and how do I do this without sucking out the fry?

Any advice very welcome as I am new to rearing fry. They have laid eggs several times but they have either not been fertile or I have not found them in time. There was certainly one successful hatching in the community tank as I have one more Corydoras Adolphi than I started with!

Many thanks,

Elaine

The above is in the FAQ's, this may help a little.

I'll try nd help answer you questions from my own experience

1. If they are in a tank of there own, you can remove the breeding trap once they've hatched.
I have added plants in mine: Java moss, Amazon frogbit, Water sprite and Wistera.

2. Liquid food is fine for the first few days.
Other than Aquasafe during water changes I have used no other adatives.

3. Liquid food is fine for the first few days, If you have micro worm cultures/ newly hatched brine shrimp
handy these are probly better to use.
I have never had these, mine have been fed on very fine crushed fish flakes, crab and catfish pellets,
also i've been adding some freeze dried brine shrimp and tubifex worms.

4. As the above artical advises 20% daily.
As to cleaning the tank I use a peice of 6mm air pipe and syphon in to a bucket. A white bucket is better just in case
You suck up a fry by mistake, its a lot easier trying to find the little begger if you have

I hope this can help a little.

:good: welcome to the Cory fry club.
