my bronze cory used to be a really happy chappy, and swim all over the place. but in the past week, he keeps preopping himself up on one of my fake plastic plants, so that he's sort of sandwiched between that and the glass on the side of the tank  . 4 times i've thought he was dead :-( , so i put in the net to scoop him out, and he swims off  . he doesn't seem to be swimming strangely, and improves at meal times :look: !! i've just moved that plastic plant to another place, away from the glass, so he went and perched ontop of the filter, still looking dead :-( . his dorsal fin looks smaller than on my other 2 cories, and slightly ripped -_- . anyone know what could be the problem??

My Corys often like to just "sit around". Sometimes they look like theyr'e sick, but they're really just fine. At times they'll sort of lean to the side and look as if they're sick. The guy at the lfs told me that they just sit like that sometimes and since having Corys I've found that to be true. My Albino Cory likes to rest on the plastic plants. So, maybe it's normal behavior for your Cory???

i'm glad someone elses cories do that!! it really scared me, especially since my other 2 are pretty active (and dont sit in stupid ways!!) :/ thanks for replying :)

my pandas will do that. i have this tiny rock pile thingy, looks like flat rocks stacked with open spaces in between. anyway, one of the smaller ones will teeter on the edge of a rock for a while. weird little cories

Hi rsz :)

Corys are funny little fish who often have peculiar habits. :D

One thing they seem to really like is a cave or a low growing plant that they can get under. They like a little bit of shade and a chance to be by themselves. I keep 3 or 4 rocks topped by a big flat rock in each tank that has corys in it. It looks quite natural surrounded by plants. (Some people use flowerpots turned on their sides, for this purpose.) When they are not hanging out underneath it, they often sit on top of it. It could be that your cory just needs a similar place to go.

there's a cave in there which my other 2 cories use. for some reason he won't though :grr:

I hope he;s ok....I have lost 2 of mine in a week through the same sorta behaviour and I can';t seem to work out why...perhaps he's just not feeling too good...?
