as many of you know i had fry from my gold stripe corys, what i didnt say was i also had fry from my greens too  i kept it to myself, and 1 other on here as i just had to tell someone, incase it all went wrong and i was shouting about nothing.... anyway here are some pics of my green and gold stripe juvis, they are in the same tank while they grow up and there is about a week age gap between them with the greens being the week older :good:

they are about 8/9 weeks old if i worked it out right..... the green stripes seem to have coloured up really well and the gold coming on well :good:

cool, lovely fish. i was wondering, how much do they usually cost at a fish shop? and will you be selling the babies? if i get any corries, i think these are definitely one of my favourites.

thanks

i paid £16.95 each for the greens but they were quite young, if you can find them you i would be prepared to pay £15+ for them.
the golds were about £9 each again if you can find them. ive enquired many times at many lfs for more but ive heard nothing back....
the juvis willk be up for sale but i really only want to do local ccollections or deliver them myself localy, especially in the cold weather! i think they need to grow a little bit more before i will sell them anyway.

Fab job matt, well done they're gorgeous

You kept the greens quiet, you sly dog... :fun:

I'm doubley jealous,i wish my fry would grow so well...

i know im sorry..... i just wanted to wait until they were safe enough to announce as i went a bit mad with the golds..... the greens seem to have coloured up really well in the last couple of weeks so im hoping the golds will do the same soon.
they look even better in the tank than on the pics as do most fish, im really proud of them

thanks for all the nice comments people :good:

the tank they are in had a slimey residue on the glass (inside), like a clear/white stuff. ive just scraped it off but it made the water all messy so done a 60% water change to get most of it out....

i get it in my baby fry tank too but ive never had it in any of my other tanks...........

the 2ft 65L tank is filtered by a fluval 2+ and a small air corner filter so there is plenty of water movement, i feed 2X a day (5am & 5pm) and have been doing daily water changes of about 15% with the odd 30% every few days. there is a sand substrate, a piece of bogwood and 4 mossballs....

can anyone explain what it was/is..?

I get it in my fry tanks too...whether its the residue from the firstbites??

I have a little pot to mix the firstbites in with tank water, even though the pot is washed after each feed, after a while a film builds up in the pot.good job i got spare ones...

The only other thing i can think of is although the filter is mature, the tank isn't,and its like a bacteria bloom builds up around the glass,i bought a £3 magnet glass cleaner from wilkos, and i just rub this over the tank to get the worse off.

They are absolutely beautiful, mattlee. Congratulations on a job well done!

I get the same thing in my fry tanks too. I always thought it was caused because I feed them heavily on Hikari sinking wafers. I use a plastic pot scrubber to remove it easily and the residue gets picked up in the filter or removed during the water change. It doesn't seem to hurt anything but it does look unsightly and make it difficult to take pictures.

thanks Inchworm, still a long way to go yet though i fear until they are ready to be rehomed....

can anyone advise me on a good size tank for them to grow up in, they are currently in a 2 foot 65L tank and there are 21 of them at the minute with another batch growing fast. i feel the oldest are now ready to have more space and my mate has a 3ft tank up for grabs, will this be ok for them all considering there could well be about 40 corys when the 2nd batch are bigger...
also had more eggs last night so more on the way hopefully :good:

I just love the 1st shot it makes me smile it's like an army of little Cory cats comeing to get you. Very cute well done.
