Cycling tank at mo. will be changing my substrate to black sand before adding fish as I'm keen to have corydoras.

So have a rio 180 and probably will get 7-8(maybe more) of one species, probably bronze's.

My thoughts to other tank mates include congo tetras or rainbows, possible blue rainbows. Are these compatable or should I think something else.

To be fair I don't mind what tank mates as long as the corys are happy.

Input most welcome

Almost any fish that likes the same water conditions as which ever cory you choose to get (not all cory's like the same temps or water parameters) and wont bug, attack or bully the cory's. Tetras are usually a safe bet as are any other peace loving species.

I personally have a 4ft tank pretty much dedicated to cory's, Borneo Suckers and shrimp, while in another tank I have bristle noses, more cory's, shrimp and black neon tetras. I have kept cory's with guppies and other live barers, the only issue that can arise is the surface feeding live barers scoffing all the food while also being willing to pick at ad eat any sinking foods given especailly to the cory's. Plus I caught the guppies eating my cory eggs.

Cheers for the feedback

A bit of research needed and a visit to the LFS's to assess stock I think.

i keep cories with a multitude of different cats, and they're fine. nothing bothers them, they just avoid getting in the hopolos way because hes bigger than them. they all feed well and are nice and healthy, and have grown considerably since i got them. certainly though id get as many as possible, all one species. im not a lover of bronze cories, bit 'same old same old' for me, considering the plethora of cories available if you look hard enough and dont mind paying.

I had the same issue with guppies and cory, but I solved it by feeding the sinking pellets or tabs right before lights out. Worked a treat.

Yeah i've only seen bronze's at the moment. May have to search further a field to find different cory's.

of the more common ones, i think trilineatus are most striking. there seems to be a lot of difference between markings, but get some nice ones and they look stunning. sterbai is always a favourite of peoples, the orange fins look great. these seem to have got extortionately expensive locally. 8-10 quid per fish, i brought 5 last year at 6 quid each.
