My 55 gallon is cycling and will hopefully be ready in the next week. I want to add between 6-10 Corys. I have read they do best in groups of six or more. My question is, is it better to keep the group of the same type or can I mix and match?

Hi jmann :)

While all corys get along with each other, to see them at their best you should have groups of them. Why not get 2 groups of five corys each? This would give you some variety but would give them the companionship they need.

Bronze and albino C. aeneus are the same species but different colors, so if you chose them as one of your groups, it would give the appearance of three different kinds of corys in your tank. :D

I have 4 different species of cories in my 55 gallon (C. Aeneus, C. Leucomelas, C. Melini, & C. Melanistius) and they all get along great. They each have 6 of there own kind, except the C. Melanistius, which there are 4 of them. B) I dont think Ive ever heard of a cory being aggressive or causing any problems.
