well here is a couple of pics of my swatzii (sp) & adolfi at the moment they are in the hospital tank due to some strange illness that has caused them to lose their barbels :-( :-(
have tried fin rot & bateria meds but they don't seem to have worked so i've moved them & i'm now trying melafix. anything is worth a go

they have been far more active since moving into this tank so ya never know :D

what substrate did you have them on in the main tank?

gravel has been known to erode barbels of corys.

sand they have always had sand, tend to baby them a bit cos i loe my corys. still at a loss thou.
tbh the tank they were in i have never felt it was right i am in the process of moving things around so i can empty it & start it again

schwartzi

Did it erode over time, or was it an overnight thing? Is it hampering their search for food or their movement in any way?

Is the adolfi also afflicted, or just the schwartzi (I ask since the latter is in two pictures and the lack of a barbel is visibile, as opposed to my being unable to see a problem with your other cory).

it eroded over time. its mostly the swartziis that are affected but the adolphi is the last of 4 :-( .
i have lost a lot of fish in that tank since i got it running. thats the reason i'm tying to get it emptied so i can start again, it doesn't make sense as i did a fishless cycle on it & everything. it has an external filter plus a small internal filter & is by no means over stocked :S .
they do manage to eat not to sure how they are doing it, they must have a strong will to live

hiya all
just thought i would update ya on my schwartzi, they are still going & i'm pretty sure they are starting to grow their barbels back :hyper:
so keep ya fingers crossed for my fishys :D

Glad to hear they're seemingly on the mend! Are they still doing okay now? Hope so, I always get more attached to cories and worry more about them...though mine are disgustingly healthy right now.

Wow, Same as me, My heater has been jumping around (Ill get a new one this weekend) and it is now stuck at 80 degrees fahrenheit and I know corys don't like high temps, but they seem like the healthiest things is the tank now! I gotta take care of my harlequins! (one looks like he might he sick...)

And now, all I wan't to do is get more corys!

just throwing in a little info for you... i think what you have is not adolfoi but duplicareus, which is a common id error. the adolfoi's black stripe is much thinner compared to duplicarieus.. check the links below to see some pic comparisons from planet catfish.
