I was trying to take a few pics of some other tank inhabitants last night and the cories came out to pose instead! They never hang out in the front of the tank like this...must be they just wanted their picture taken!!

I believe they are c.melanistius. I've had them for almost a year.

They look more like C. leucomelas to me because the spots are bigger. C. leucomelas and C. melanistius are very much a like and its hard to tell them apart. Either way, they are great cories

They are amazing, wish I had never got rid of my original cories to my girlfriends cousin!! :(

Getting new tank this week though so will be adding several schools of cories over the next 4-6 months!!

*WIGGLES WITH EXCITEMENT*

Yeah, look like C. leucomelas. Compare the tail spot pattern too.

Great shots. It's odd how they will come out and pose sometimes. I've had them come to the front and change positions so I can see all sides clearly. Just like they are modeling for me. Soooo cute.

Nice, i'm planning on getting some for my tank when I get it and set it up, are they suitable for cycling? (I know you might say 'please do a fishless cycle' but I really don't want to. If not, i'll just use my goldfish or my betta.

Fast answer, Neal, No! :hyper:

Why don't you check for some Bio Spira? It will help to fast cycle your tank. A little expensive though. Do you have any cycled tanks? You can use decore, substrate, and filter media from a mature tank to mature a new tank. The accepted method by hobbiests is to keep extra filters running on a mature tank to put on a new tank or a compromised tank when needed. It is not considered appropriate to cycle a tank with fish. :/

On the other hand, Betta are not in cycled or filtered tanks often, just get frequent water changes. This is because they can breathe large amounts of oxygen from the surface. They get large water changes when there is no filter a couple times a week (depending on the size of the tank.)
