One of my new panda corys, the very smallest one appears to have one of his barbels missing I can't be asbsolutely 100% certian and I can't get a photo, but on one side the barbel definatley seems to be shorter than the other side.

I'm fairly certain that it wasn't like that yesterday but I couldn't be certain as I've only had them 4 days and I'm still getting used to them. I'm saying he, but he could well be a she as I think he's quite young [only about 1.5cm] so it's difficult to sex him.

I have rounded gravel in there and I have been doing daily water changes to help keep the nitrates down and all my other stats are fine, ph 7.2, ammonia nil, nitrite nil.

Will it affect him? He's nuffling through the gravel quite happily with the other guys. What can I do to help? Will it grow back?

'm quite worried now, Help!

Sadly once they lose there barbels not good as they need them to find food, i would assolate the fish and get him on some tetracycline.
Sorry uk anti internal bacteria med by interpet then or myxazin, good luck.

I can't isolate the fish as it is already in the quarentine tank with his 2 buddys. I have decided to make it my policy to quarentine any new fish I buy for at least a month before I introduce them into my main tank. I'm unwilling to put the other 2 corys in the main tank as it's been less than a week. Will the myxazin harm the other fish?

Not really, i would get the waterlife med, maybe add the melafix for now and you can use it with the waterlife med as well the melafix.

Some of my cories are actually in the process of growing their barbels back. They managed to feed ok without their barbels too. :)

Finally kitty/Wilder was right to suggest Melafix!!!

if they grow back or not, it should be ok, just keep an eye on it, good luck
