hi all,well i saved about 20 peppered cory eggs the other day.this morning i got up & theyd started to hatch.out of the 20 eggs 2 havent hatched & look white so i assume these wernt fertilised,the rest have all hatched.two of the baby fry have died tho.they swam away from where the eggs were but appeared to still have the egg on there head.this is my first attempt of saving the eggs & i just wondered if anyone knows why this happen and if theres anything i can do to prevent it in the future?i know to expect fry loss & im lucky all the eggs didnt fungus but it seems strange that theyv still got the egg covering there heads.do you think they were just to weak to totally escape from it? :) x

p.s. forgot to ask,do i have to remove the fry as soon as i think there dead?what happens if theyv been in the water a few hours cus iv not been here?thanks for any advice!

That reminds me to check on my eggs <=)

:eek: <=(
Edit:
All my eggs are gone <=(

Hi flumpit2 :)

When cory fry hatch they always have a large round part that looks the way you have described. These are their yolk sacs and within a day or two they will all be absorbed and the tiny fry will begin to look more like little fish. They are, in effect, "feeding" off them and it's not necessary to feed them anything else the first day or so. :D

hi inchworm,thanx for the info!the other cory fry have sacks but you can see there heads.these other couple seem as if they never broke out of the egg properly.they seem to still have what i would call the shell on them.infact the best way i can describe them is that they look like eggs wih tails.just thought it looked strange cus they look so different to the rest of the fry. :) x

Hi flumpit2 :)

I know what you mean now. Just give them a little more time and see what happens. Sometimes things go more slowly than others.
