How big do cory fry need to be before I can move them to the main tank?

looking at your sig in your 125gallon it doesn't look as if much would eat them so to be on the safe size i reakon about 1-2cm

Well, I guess I have a little while to wait then. :/ I was hoping to move them so I could clean the fry tank completely. Getting kind of dirty. :(

it was just your common plec and the other cory that i might be wary of but if you make a educated guess that the fry won't fit in the cories mouths i don't think a plec would bother with fry if it had a nice algae tab or blood worm to munch on.

what size are they?

Some are just over 1cm but others are about 3/4 cm.

And my pleco gets algae tabs. That is how he became "Mr. Bossy". Never goes near them when they first go in, but waits about 10 minutes then kicks all the other fish away and it becomes his. ;)

maybe you can test drive with a few see if they survive a week??

you don't have anything particularly predatory in your tank though and if there's enought hiding places i would feel inclined to say go for it!!

I recently asked the same question about my Cory fry, who are about an inch long. Inchworm, and someone else, suggested waiting until they were a little bigger, as they could still really use the frequent feedings and water changes. :)

Cute little things, they are.... :)

You should be asking how hard it is to stop them from breeding.

Move them to a 10 Gallon tank w/ a sponge filter and airstone.

As for getting them to bread, do a temp drop 5 Degrees farenheight is plenty then bring it back up. Do it over a night and bring it up the next day. Also, give them brine shrimp, bloodworms, or something meaty.

That is about all it takes. :)

for any type of cory? I have albino ones. and i dont know if I have males or females.

That is the way to breed corys. The move to the 10 Gallon was for eggs. You can do that for Corys but make sure to remove them after they lay the eggs.

Well, I gave into my frustration today with success. No, I didn't move them, but I grabbed my gravel vac and vacummed the bottom of the tank. :)

I will have to do it again for a couple days to get all of it. 5 Gallons and dodging fry didn't give me enough time to get it completely clean but I'm happier because it is cleaner. :)
