hi all,

this morning in my main tank i found that one of my cory cats has laid eggs everywhere.i was going to let them get eaten but have decided to give them a go.

i have just set up my first 30lt tank with filter and heater and water from my main tank to use as hatch tank.

last time i breed corys i used a nusery net which i placed by filter outlet and did well breeding.sadly i cant find my nursery net.

can i just remove the eggs from main tank and place them in the 30 lt tank or do i need to get a nursery net again?

just used one of my nets and bent handle up so that it hangs over side of small tank.

small tank, heater, filter and sand been in loft for ages rinsed using water from main tank, set up with water from main tank!!

this will be more luck than skill if these hatch, nothing to lose as if i had left them in main tank they prob would of got eaten.

You'll need to get a good flow over the eggs or they'll fungus.
Have you got an air pump & airstone?
You could put the eggs in a small tub with some tank water & float it in the 30 with an airstone, I've just hatched some cory eggs that way

i have the eggs in net with the filter outlet breaking the water so that you can see the bubbles going through the net.

years ago this 30lt tank was my community tank and i breed about 6 batches of 40-50 eggs each time.fingers crossed this time, find out in about a weeks time.

Great to see eggs isn't it
yes.gif
 What Cory are they?

My Adolfi was laying eggs the other week, but she was the sole survivor from four I bought in so it is unlikely they were fertile eggs.  At present she lives with Pandas, but picked up some tiny Adolfi's yesterday, currently in quarantine.

thanks lillefishy il keep you posted.

cory dad is a mature bronze which fathered my previous batches and i think mum is a little young albino which i thought would be too young, ive only had it about 3 months and it was tiny when i got it.

naughty mr bronze me thinks

yippie i have fry!! i have about 8 baby cats which i am happy with considering small breeding tank was just a 5 minute throw together.

i have had another batch of eggs since then but they got laid just before my lights went out so sadly they became fish food.

can the baby cory be different colours or will they all be same colour? as out of the young i have some look dark and some look very white so i am hoping some of them are albino.
