Hello there I'm very new to fishkeping and this forum so please be patient
I have 6 Crydoras Julii though more likey to be the other ones Trilineatus,
anyaway on returning from work this evening I noticed a bit of chasing and for the first time the T position , there are a few small white eggs(?) on the leaves of a small piece of jave fern.
I dont as yet have a second tank , I was hoping to get one very soon for all sorts of reasons and uses ,
If the eggs don't get eaten will they be ok in the big tank for a while ?
Can they be transferred over or do they have to be laid in the tank the fry are to hatch in?
Would a small ferplast container be ok for the plants with the eggs?
Maybe some Java moss in the big tank?
Or maybe best leave it and have a second tank ready for any future events?
Sorry to go on a bit , it's just very exciting to see this happen , noticed them chasing each other on diferent occassions but never actually seen them locking up and laying eggs , would be nice to see some babies.
Any info , answers , suggestions greatly appreciated...... :good:

Hi kiriyama :)

It's always exciting when your corys spawn, but especially when it's the first time. Let me give you this link to read, just in case you haven't seen it yet:

The eggs take about 3-4 days to hatch (maybe longer) depending on the temperature, but I doubt if they will last that long with the other fish in the tank. You could try moving them to a plastic container to hatch and spend their first days while you are thinking about what to do. You could either try rolling the eggs off and onto the sides of the container or just cutting the leaf off and moving it with them attached. An airstone is needed to circulate the water around them to prevent fungus from developing.

The first spawn is often small and you will probably be getting more the next time. By then you can be prepared. Whatever you decide, good luck with the corys. I hope we'll be seeing a lot more posts about them soon. :D

I know how you feel.i felt the same when my cories were spawning :)

I have 8 lovely cory fry in a separate small tank,i hatched them by placing the eggs in a catching net and putting them over a airstone in my platy tank,it has worked for me :good:

Good luck,i hope you get set up ready to save any eggs next time :)
