Cory Compatibility...

9 times out of 10 they go together fine but it's that 10th one you have to watch out for. Occasionally you get a Betta that just can't stand any other fish no matter the shape or size.

I have male Betta in all three of my Cory tanks. I have tried to pick the least pugnacious and aggressive boys. So far so good. Each has adapted well. I put a lone cockatoo male (SA dwarf Cichlid) in a cory tank. Now he thinks he's a cory. The Betta in that tank is a VT, Zuni Warrior. He comes down to eat and hide in the caves with the cories. But mostly he stays at the top and floats around on his plant. I have a female Betta in the Alpha Betta Sorority that I may have to isolate. I think she may be nipping and bullying. I just removed a gentle platinum lady that is bloodied. Platinum Lady got a place next to Lavendar Boy the VT in a split 10. :shifty: She is very happy. ;)

I think the Betta are good in the Cory tank--with the reservations that Teelie mentioned.

Hi Arrowhead :)

I've had some very good luck keeping bettas with my corys. They flare at the corys, but have never hurt them, and the corys just ignore them.

Here's one with my baby black corys:

What I find is the biggest problem is getting a good balance between having too much water movement for the betta and not enough for the corys. If the filter is agitating the top of the water too much, it will be too much for the betta and he will tire out too much. A gentle flow and a good sized clump of floating plants makes the betta happy. :D
