Cory Breeding

Tough little question:
Arguably from about 9months to 1 year depending on the species, and the growth rates. Im sure someone will come tell me that they have seen earlier, but i think this close to the common time when it occurs. Definitely has been so with my cories.

As Xebadir says, it is different with different species. Some seem to come out of the eggs with sex drive and others need lots of encouragement and take a longer time to get going. Peppers/C. paleatus and bronze/C. aeneus are early, ready breeders. They will show interest while still young juvenals well before they achieve full growth.

Well that would explain why my juvie albino's and peppers went nuts the last time the adults decided to spawn LOL. Didn't know that. Thanks for the info Jollysue

Yeah! I was pretty surprised when my LF albino peppers started getty jiggy while they were just pups. Now my LF bronze lady is less than 2" and not an inch wide and she just rolls and rocks around on her big belly while the little adolescent boys are all nuzzling her. If it wouldn't offend anyone I would call her Ozark Mama, but maybe just Ma Kettle will do.
