Hi. I have only 4 panda corys now. Thing is I read the are schooling fish but mine are never togehter and always off on there own. Also I read they like to sleep in a pile together, well ive never seen any of mine slepp  There active from when i wake at 6 am until I go bed at midnight, even when tank lights are off. Are they actualy active fish anyway? Also why do they not group together?

I read something about this. It depends on the size of your tank. If it is say a 2ft all the corys will be able to see each other and therefore wouldn't need to be together to feel safe, since they know there friends are a small distance away. As said above they also feel safe in your tank and don't need to be in a group to feel safe.

I have four new network cory's and two are full on constantly at the moment, and usually there is also a third. I think they see their reflection as more corys in another tank! However one often sits on his own. I am a little worried about him but he was the first to start foraging for food and sometimes will then join the others for a bit of madness, I think he is just more chilled than the rest. SO i guess you never know what any fish is going to be like, all slightly different like humans!

You probably notice they will only school if they feel threatened. Like when the lights come on first thing in the morning, or if another fish appears to threaten them. I have a tank of bronze cory fry, and they shoot together under the filter when i look into the tank, but they will spread out when feeding or if they don't. You may notice the same with other popular schooling fish such as neon tetras will only school together if they feel threatened. If they are happy in the tank, you might never see them school together.

Cory's are quite active fish anyway, I often notice most activity after lights out anyway with mine.

Makes sense, as my neons hardly ecer school together either. I guess they all seem feel pretty safe even with my physco attacking female molly lol.

My corys arent quite, there always on the go at bottom of tank, never see them sleeping lol.

I have some peppered's and some adolfo's in the same tank, and the peppered's very rarely get together and the adolfo's do a lot of the time, so I expect it depends a bit on the breed too.

On the subject of Cory Behaviour... my Adolfo's sometimes seem to get all hyper excited and jump on each other and wriggle against each other and there is a bit of a persuit thing going on... is this Cory flirting/courting?
