I have two cory's one large and one small. The big one usually stays on the bottom just eating or swimming and just hanging out. The small one on the other hand will graze on the bottom and after he's done will take off zipping all over the place up and down ; all over the bottom in and out of the stump cave and eventually will settle on top of the stump and kind of look out over his kingdom. He does this several times a day. My daughter says he is playing and he's just a kid yet. IS this normal or do I have an ADHD cory? He seems fine other than this behavior and he's done this ever since I got him.

he's fine. some cories are more active than others. i dont know if he is "playing" but there isnt anything wrong with an active cory. i have one that zips all over than sits up in the leaves of my silk plants.

sounds just fine.....we have had a peppered cory couple for over 4 ys now & sometimes they sit parked together in cory corner othertimes they are zipping around everywhere...........they even swim up to the top of the tank to swing off & munch on a tubifex cube if i chuck one in.

No need to worry. Like what has been said, younger cories will swim all over the tank non-stop for hours. This tends to stop as they get older. By Bronze cories did it for a long time and they still do it occasionally.

Whew; I'm glad this behavior is normal (?). His antics really are funny. When he zips past the older cory's nose I swear It looks totally disgusted by it all.

corys are just so cute!!! i remember coming home when we started out & my husb had bought our couple, i have to say i wasnt that impressed when i first saw them ( whats those brownish whiskery looking fish you've got??? i remember saying)

well very quickly they became my favourite fish & i can see why everyone (including me) LOVES corys theyre such great little characters!!! whiskers & all.

I had 2 Cories.

Untill 2 days ago, I never noticed my TriLins zipping about.

Then I did a bit of a change to my tank:
A 50% water change. (high Nitrite & Nitrate levels).
Added some Laterite to my substrate for my new plants.
Moved things about a bit.

During this process the fish appeared calm, and the light was OFF.

Then, as a treat I gave my fish a bloodworm feast:
I turn the light on and to my amazement my smallest Cory just flipped out, dashing all over the place and crashing into the gravel and pinging off the side of the tank - so hard in fact you could HEAR him.
Needless to say the light went OFF again as quick as I could get to it & he appeared to settle down and hide behind a stone.

Now, I don't want to alarm everyone, but sadly the next day I awoke to find him lying on his side dead!

God I was utterly gutted! I still think that in me turning that light on that day flipped him out and stressed him out too much for the little guy to handle.

And now I have noticed the larger cory is starting to fly about a bit too (but nothing like the madness of the other one).
