Corrys Spawned Again.

feed my corrys some frozen food this afternoon and then watched them spawn about 8 o'clockthe 2nd time this week!, they never seem to spawn overnight but allways seem to spawn in the evening and aternoon.

is this normal behaviour?

i have 6 peppered corrys and can deffiantly tell that one of them is female, but am unsure about some of the others, i bought them about 2 months ago and they have grown quite a bit since then.

the female only seem to be spawning around 10 eggs each time is this about right?

have you got baby corries then?

there probs about an inch in length mayes a bit more, i bought them when they was about half an inch in length.

will they increase there spawn once they get older??

ive been feeding a lot of frozen food and have been doing 50% water changes seems to have got them going. ive had corrys previously and they have spawned alot more than these have. although the previous ones were bronze and these are peppered corrys.

A 1" cory seems a little to young to spawn to me. They are usually around 1.5" when they start spawning. The reason why the first clutch of eggs was only 10 is probably because the cories are still young. As they get older, they should produce more eggs. Do you still have the eggs in with the adult peppered cories?

no ive removed them from the tank with a credit card and put them in a breeding net, il wait a few days and see if they hatch. if i'd of left them they would probably be eaten by now.

Thats why I was asking you that. Peppered cories eat their eggs very quickly. Make sure you have a constant water flow over the eggs so that they dont get fungus. What do you plan on feeding the fry?

well if they hatch i'l pop down the shop and buy some more good frozen food, probably worms, they should be ok for a few days with eating there egg sacks.

The egg sacks last about 24 hours. Then its good to feed them some type of liquid fry food for 1-2 days. Then something like microworms and a crushed flake food or BBS. Be careful with frozen foods because they can mess the water up and give the fry bacterial infections. I hope all the fry hatch for you. Good Luck

My pepperd corys have spawned 3 times so far 30-60 eggs each time, they seem to hatch @78degrees after exactly 5 days. Even with anti Fungus most seem to fungus. I now have 25 baby corys 1" long, I fed them liquifry after 24hrs then on to Baby powered food then half adult foods.
