The photo of Devario fangfangae I put up on here a while back was wrongly identified.

There were some more at Wildwoods today and Wildwoods/Pete identified them as Danio dangila

Bought 9 of them anyway! :D

oh dear oh dear
danio danglia at wildwoods is not danio danglia
http://images.google.co.uk/images?hl=en&q=...dangila&spell=1

danio danglia (moustached danios) are kinda pink with large spots and can be id from all other danios by the large dark spot just behind the gill cover.

the fish at wildwoods marked up as danio danglia are in fact devario regina (queen danio) I myself purchased 6 of them today

Careful Wolf,

Pete and I were both at Wildwoods westerday where I bought 9. Pete tells me that young Danglia start off with stripes then they break up into the chain link pattern as they grow.

We will find out soon!

I do know the diference
I have kept moustached danios almost
since day 1 of starting the hobby
this is one of my original danglias

this is one of my "danglias" from wildwoods

as you can see, clearly they are a very different fish.

Paul. I am genuinely interested in Danios - not point scoring or playing who can get the rarest fish.

I have kept Danios for 30 years since I was 9 and have revelled in all the new species that have recently (re) appeared. That does not mean I am trying to belittle what you know about them - which seems to be quite a lot.

I hope you did not take offence a couple of months back when I questioned the 'shanensis' because I was not trying to point score, rather I was concerned that you might have paid money for a fish that did not appear from the photos to be what it said on the tin.

Mislabelled Danios are quite a problem at the moment in various places (eg Danio Ringlet turning out to be spotted Kyathit) but this is hardly surprising when some of them haven't even got scientific names yet

I am only telling you what I was told about the 'danglia'. If its not the danglia its not. It may be D Fangfangae after all. We will have to see what happens when they grow.

Hi to you both,

Them danio danglias are vicious devils!
The last time i went to wildwoods there were a few dangias i think on the LHS top or middle tanks just after the bagging table/counter. There were also some of the queen danios too but not in the same tank.

Message for The-Wolf too concerning the botias- I was goin to get my pal to come pick em up from you but he is unavailable. I havent the time to come down either so I will have to decline them. Regretfully :(

It is amazing how many danios are miss-labeled. Mind you this can be sometimes benificial.

Paul,

Those Wildwoods fish may or may not be Dangila. However there is absolutely no way that they are Devario regina. The Wildwoods fish are not deep bodied and have barbels extending beyond their gill covers. The barbels alone appear to preclude a devario species.

If they are not Dangila (and unless they develop the black spot as they grow larger you appear to be correct, they are probably either Danio feegradei or yet another as yet unnamed species.
