Hi

Have a 30g tank with:

2 Tiger Barbs
2 Orange Barbs
2 Green Tiger Barbs
1 Clown Barb
2 Plectos

Ph level has been reading 7.6 - 7.8 for around 4 weeks now ?

Ideally, I understand that it needs to read 7.0 ?

A.) Is this correct
B.) How can I get the levels down ?

Thanks

Unless you are trying to breed them, it is not worth adjusting your pH. Doing so without a working knowledge of chemistry can be dangerous. Your levels are not extreme anyway. I know many where I used to live that had 8.4 - 8.6!

hi there as the expert lateral says its not too critical for barbs... we live in london uk & our water supply ( & our tank pH)consistantly sits around a pH of 7.8-8.0, we've had our 6 pack of barbs for nearly 15mths & they always look happy healthy & active. i was informed by the good folks of this forum that messing with pH in a lot of circumstances can more problems than just leaving it, when i asked a similar question to yours a while ago :D
