Coronavirus...post your thoughts here...

Now back to discussing the main topic of this thread...Coronovirus...how is it affecting you and what restrictions are in place where you live.

Things have eased a bit here - (socially - distanced) queues for IKEA stretching far, far over the horizon (is anyone REALLY that desperate for a new cushion cover or a soft toy shaped like a piece of broccoli?).

On the other hand - no queue for Asda (woo-hoo! - first time I've been in an actual shop since March . . . ). Also Pets at Home (I know, I know - don't judge me, I was desperate) - I got my Nerites  - they are licking the glass as I type.

Husband and I still being very careful as we are both vulnerable. I have a home made mask with owls on it. (It's vair' nice.) Daughter goes back to work in July. Son and daughter-in-law are already back as they work in a school.

Already there is much noise - neighbour over the back has been cackling like she was auditioning for all three of Macbeth's witches today - I think she's drunk. Could be celebrating at getting her foul-mouthed, bad-tempered husband back to work. (He really is awful)

Lad next door but one is still having a home office in their motor-home. The street is full of little girls playing but not quite together except in families. (We don't have any little boys in our street for some reason - but seven little girls, oldest about six). They are very sweet - waving teddies at each other and having scooter races on opposite sides of the road etc. Nice to hear children's voices again.

Numbers are staying steady at the moment, but it was the races last week (we in t'North are considered expendable by the govt, so our race meets were the first to re-start), so we'll see what happens in a couple of weeks.

I've not been in a shop for over two months either - I hate shopping but my husband enjoys it so as only one person was allowed in a shop, I've let him go.

I haven't been there yet but most branches of Maidenhead Aquatics are now open. Almost all of them are in garden centres so when the lockdown closed garden centres, Maidenhead Aquatics had to close as well. Now that they are allowed to open again, MA can open as well.

I find this restrictions issue kinda funny, because that clearly depends on whether you want to follow the rules or not, from what I have seen in America on YouTube for the last two months there are no actual restrictions being enforced at all in my opininon, all my favourite fish related channel broadcasters are meeting and greeting each other as they go shopping for new fish tanks etc or going fishing in the lakes or the sea or even shooting iguansa or cooking up their catch etc.

Whilst at the same time exclaiming they are in "lock down".. Which to me a man in the UK is staggering to hear because that is absolutely not our idea of being in lock down. One famous YouTube guy hilariously criticised a fish bate store (I think) for being open as if it was an 'essential service' because he knew it clearly was not..

It's kinda funny an American on here said they thought martial law would kick in on American grounds owing to the corona virus, it may kick in for a very different reason owing to recent events...

It's sad the BAME community are at risk of 200% death rate when infected with the virus yet they are the ones protesting without caution.

Curiously I posted the other day rates were down like two days ago then today I find they are up again.

200% ?

Surely the maximum death rate can only be 100% ?

What have I misunderstood?

You are twice as likely to die from the virus if you are in the Black, Asian or Minority Ethnic community.

I popped into my local Maidenhead to get some live good and had a chat with the manager while I was in there. Poor bloke had been in by himself every day for 10 weeks to look after the fish and also went to help the one bloke the garden centre had coming in to water the plants. He looked exhausted.

Its been really quiet here in KY. Nothing bad really...

What was their stock level like? Had assumed I would stock up my new tank on-line but may pop over there during the week. I know I could phone but the bikes are desperate for an outing :)

Looked alright from what I could see, I didn't go for a proper browse because he's only having one person/family in at a time and there was a family waiting behind me but most of the tanks looked stocked.

Another update from Australia. The protests that occurred yesterday were given the go ahead by a court of appeal a few minutes before the protests started. They over-ruled the original court ruling saying the protests were legal even though it went against the federal laws abut social gathering and distancing.

I'm not sure how that is even possible when the federal law says people are not allowed to gather in groups of more than about 20 people, and everyone must stay at least 2 meters apart. There were approximately 20,000 people at one protest and they weren't 2 meters apart. Therefore they were in breach of federal government pandemic laws and this was allowed by a court of appeal, who over-ruled a federal court judge and have disregarded the federal government's law that is designed to protect everyone.

The federal government is now concerned that there will be a huge outbreak in the next 2 weeks because of the protests.

One idiot protester was going on about black lives matter more than mainstream society and said this matter (black lives matter) is more important than a few hundred people dying of covid19. I'm not sure where he gets off saying that considering there haven't been that many Aboriginals die in custody during the last 100 years. And if covid19 spreads because of these demonstrations, thousands could die, and that's on top of the 100,000 plus that have already died just in the US.

Any way, I'm a bit pissed off about these duckheads and their protests. They don't give a crap about mainstream society or who they kill with their virus. As long as they get on television and have their 5 seconds of fame. Yes they can protest, but not when it endangers other people's lives by them spreading a killer virus during a pandemic.

A fruit picker from Victoria has flown to Queensland to work on a strawberry farm. This wouldn't normally be an issue except he has covid19. The government is now worried about how many people are going to get the virus because of this idiot.

Fruit pickers do not normally wear gloves and don't wear face masks.

This is one reason why I haven't been buying fresh fruit and veges. I see people coughing and breathing all over the fruit and veg at the supermarkets and you can't wash the virus off green leafy vegetables. So unless you cook them, there's a chance you could catch the virus.

Today in Australia swimming schools (where you learn to swim) and public pools in Queensland have been allowed to open up. Queensland is in the northern half of the country where it is warm.

Swimming schools in the southern half of the country are complaining that they haven't been allowed to open. I have no idea why they are whinging because it is winter here and nobody goes swimming at this time of year and swimming classes aren't held until spring and summer. So why the hell are they complaining about not being allowed to open when they are normally shut at this time of year anyway?

One of the protestors at the black lives matter rally last weekend, has come down with covid19. The protestor was in close contact with over 20,000 people at the rally.

A number of people working at the quarantine hotel (where people are being isolated and quarantined for covid19), have come down with covid19.

A couple more elderly people have come down with covid19 at a retirement home, and a baby has it.
