how big do they grow?

And are they a social fish how many would be an ideal group?

females grow larger than the males, females = 2inchs (more rounder) males = 1.5 inch (slimmer)
an ideal group would be 5 or more :D and yes cories are social fish

hope i helped

yea thanks,

I`m about to start my first tank cycling and just planning what to put in it...

i want..

2 koi angels

2 black lace angels

2 gold / marble type cool looking angel

5 or 6 panda cprys

a zebra plec

and depending on how full the tank is after all that maybe some guppys or mollys or some such and possibly a cool looking crustation if i can find one

Pandas are pretty sensitive to their environment and don't always fair well in many communities. They are small, though. A skunk group doesn't get much larger, they are black and white, and are hardier. They will get along well with pandas if you added them later. I doubt that any of my small Cory groups are even two inches.

Please add your fish slowly giving your tank time to mature with each group or you could end up with a crash. I use BioSpira to fast mature tanks. It is very expensive, but with a seasoned filter and decore the fish do well when I add new ones.

yea i`m going shopping for gravel/ plants and what not tomorrow and going to start my tank cycleing.

and when the test kit shows everything is stable and as it should be i was going to add the guppys/mollys first to test the water

and then a week later provided theres no major spike in the water chemisty add the corys

and then the angels

and hopefully by then i should have laid my hands on a zebra plec.

i have no intention of rushing it

i really really would love a full tank straight away but thats just silly

Yeah, you're right; take your time. If you have friends with healthy tanks you can speed it up with cycled filter media, decor, substrate, etc etera.

I`m going to do it all by the book and take it slow.

Its my first tank sice my gold fish when i was 5 so want to learn as much as possible about how the tank works.
The best way to do this is trial and error...(hopefully less of the error)

I take it you are doing a fishless cycle?

Some cories only grow to 1.5-2 inches- others such as bronze and peppered cories grow to 2-3 inches. And pandas, as mentioned before, are more sensitive, so should only go in a mature tank (a tank that has been cycled and then running for several months without problems).

The zebra plec does best in larger groups- which would cost you a fortune- but there are plenty of other attractive smallish loricariids around which are less rare. Personally, I cant help feeling that zebras, being a threatened species, should go to someone with experience, who is prepared to try to breed them. Anyway, this is not a fish for a new tank. But plenty of attractive catfish out there. Good luck!

What size is your tank? You need a fair size for all those angels, and a reasonable height.

its 4 foot long, 2 foot high and about 18 inches back to front.

i was asuming that the zebra plec was the same as other plecs just diffrent in colour.

i really want a plec but i want something a little diffrent from the everyday plec that every one has.

any other suggestion as to what would be hard enough eay to look after yet stand out from the rest?
