well it seems these days they jsut sit in my water wistera and do nothing.. I never see them anymore.. I will puit food in and the only thing that eats it is the SAE alittle.. so their food will sit there all day. but the next mornign it is 100% gone. :/ now my question is.. are they eatting at night or is it the SAE's at night.. and why don;t they come out anymore? they are the joy in my tank.. eps when they swim over the rocks..

what can i do to fix this?
is something wrong with them?

P.S. - none of them are dead or look sick (I check/count at night when they are sleeping.. out in the open.. how odd.)

hmmm, well ive had this with my cories, whenever i put in their food (which sinks straight to the bottom and out of reach of the other fish) they completely ignore, but they eat it at night because it is then gone, so the chances are your cories are eating it at night. How long have they been like this? do they seem skinny?

they have been like this for some time.. can recall how long.. atleast 2 weeks... but they are nice anf fat.. :/ but I wanan see them swim about and such. not sit in a bush all day.

I'm also having the same problems with my pygmy cories.

It's just after 10:00 am as I write this post. I'm sitting in my fishroom and looking around to see what the corys are doing.

Only two tanks have a few fish going up the glass. Several tanks of them are perfectly still. In all the others, there might be a few fish moving around close to the bottom. As they swim near other fish, I can almost hear them saying, "Oh, excuse me. I didn't mean to disturb you."

This is perfectly natural. Come this afternoon and evening, all this will change. They will become quite active and playful.

If your corys do not become more active in the later part of the day, first check that they are healthy and the water parameters are good. Then consider their tank mates. If any are, or could become aggressive toward them, that could be the problem. You might have to make some changes there before the corys get active.

Another thing to look at is if there is enough open space for them to swim freely. I notice a difference when I take out the plants and rocks. Corys are strong little swimmers and can get up some speed if they have enough room.

If it's none of those reasons, it might just be that you need to get a few more of them. Since they are schooling fish they do better in large groups than they do in small ones. They become less shy and usually much more active. :D

I put SAEs in but they never bother the cories.. infact they sleep with them quite often. I have 9 of the smae tpy in there.. I was thinking about adding 20 haha jsut because I love them so much! would that make them happy? haha
