Cories In A 2.5gal

Hi all.

I was wondering, could you keep any cories BUT pygmy cories in a 2.5 uk gal- 12x8x8 inch aquarium, it will be planted, is this possible like 2 or 3?

They like to be in groups of 5 or more. They would really need more room than that.

There are other small Corys that would be ok in a 12 x 8 x 8. C. habrosus, C. hastatus, C. albolineatus, C. multimaculatus, or even some of the smaller Aspidoras such as A. pauciradiatus, A. depinnai or A. sp C35 the "Black phantom".

These are all what I would term as dwarf species and 5 or 6 of any of these would be fine in your 12 x 8 x 8 tank.

The curse of the common name. Pygmy cory is used by shops both of the hastatus and the pygmaeus.

Probably of the habrosus too. We should probably refer to them as dwarf species.

I thought pygmy meant all the small ones... that is why I didn't suggest any of them.
I didn't know there were that many of them either. I will have to do a search to see what a few of those look like... I don't have any of the little ones.

I used to keep twin 2.5 US gal tanks side by side with a single male betta and 3 panda corys in each. The tanks were filtered, planted and heated. A US 2.5 gal tank measures basically 12x6x8 inches.
