I am thinking about setting up a cory tank, and also need a tank for some fry I have. Is it safe to have them in the same tank? Would the corys go for the fry? Tank size is about 20gal, I have 5 fry - number could rise if I find anymore! There would be 7 cories initially.

In theory, if the Corys are well fed they shouldn't bother the fry. However, miss a feed and you could find yourself missing fry, so it wouldn't be highly recommended. If I were you, get a smaller (8-10gal) tank for your fry, and then use the 20 gallon for a cory tank, would work out much better.

Hi liserini :)

Corys will not bother the livebearer fry unless they are laying on the bottom of the tank. They will not jump up and attack them while they are swimming. If you look at a cory's face you will see that it is designed for eating food off the substrate, not aggressive behavior.

While they will help clean up the food your fry miss, be sure to feed them enough of their own food to keep them healthy. :D

That's what I was thinking. Of course it will be a few weeks before the tank is even ready. Hopefully giving the fry time to grow bigger. 3 of them are over a month old, and the other 2 I found just last week!
