I was wondering if I could get some cories to put in my 5 gal with my female. Too crowded?

Everyone here has said that cories should be kept in groups. I think of 5 (?) I think that would be alot for a 5gal. I have 1 corie in my 20 gal femal tank. He seems fine. He is big, and fat. The girls don't bother him at all.

You could try pygmy cories! 3 or 4. You might have problems then you might not all depends on the betta.

all bettas have their own personality... so there is no right anwser. I really just depends.

where does one get pygmy cories??? Those sound too cute! (My female is very calm and gentle).

Cories are happiest in groups of 3 or more. You could probably fit that many in your 5 gallon if you did more water changes. But I had one Cory in a tank with female Bettas...he seemed to think they were his own species because he'd try to school with them sometimes. They liked him, and he liked them.

i have a 5.5 gallon tank in which i have my alfred, mable, 6 albino corries and 2 guppies.
on another website - www.thinkfish.co.uk you can do a community creator, which i did and the only thing they said was that the guppies may nip Alfred's tail.
the guppies do not, they stay well clear of Alfred. and all the fish are living happily together.

Give Alfred time, and someday he may snap and kill the Guppies. It happens all the time.

lol, doubt it, ALfred and mable are moving today to a mating tank i set up. they love swimming around together, and chasing each other.

Mable's a female Betta, isn't she?

I'm surprised they haven't killed each other.
