i was just wondering if there are any corals i could put into a 30 gal tank with a 20 watt T8 flourescent light tube. I was talking to a co-worker today (I work at a fish store) and he said some types of mushrooms or elegance corals MIGHT work but he told me to do some research first, so here I am :D

all soft coral will be ok i have to torch corals under t8s and are doing great

I agree, you probably can do this scott, but you have multiple tubes, the OP only seems to have 1.... Big difference.

To the OP: Yes, you can get away with mushrooms, but I would not try an elegance. Way too tempermental.

I have many types of soft coral under T8 lighting and they are all doing very well, i even have a hard coral that i recently added which also seems to be doing fine. However as Ski has already mentioned you would need multiple tubes, i have 4 x 58w tubes and a tank that is only 18" deep, so we both have t8 lighting but the amount of light produced is massive. I hear mushrooms do not require much light, maybe just try a small cheap piece and see how you get on, i would not try anything else.
