Coral Reef

I cant answer the question.. im a complete newbie to any fish keeping..

but, to save you time, i think people might come back to you asking about the size of the aquarium you are looking to set up, as this will determine the size of the filter, skimmer needed, and the recommendations for the amount of live rock (£8 per kilo at my LFS) you will need..

Sorry cant be of help otherwise..

Squid..

what size tank are you looking,

You can set up a small to medium tank with £300-£1000 imo depending upon the size of the tank and whether you can get good end hand deals etc.

bewteen £500 -£50,000

need a few more details to narrow it down!

I'm not being curt, but, there is an extensive thread here just a little further down the list, even listing items needed by price. We need to pin this if any of the mods cruise thru here. SH

I have spent about $3000 on mine, it is far from complete. You dont set up a saltie if your not willing to pay. They are very, very rewarding however. A reef if the most biodiverse ecosystem on earth, not even a tropical rainforest even comes close. There are 15000 marine fish species, and almost two million invertebrates. We have only discovered about three percent of all life, so expect even more species soon.

A fish only saltwater does not cost much more than a freshwater, however. So if you would like to spend less, get a fish only and slowly upgrade to a reef if thats your fancy.

I'm just about done, I only have zoos, I have spent 800 USD so far and I am going to spend another 50-70 on coral frags and 30-50 on fish.
