I was just wondering about which corals are safe to put near each other and which are not. This is for softies and LPS only.

Can zoos be placed next to mushrooms or xenia?
Can different types of shrooms be placed touching/near each other?
What about my devils hand and xenia, which softies/LPS can go near these?

I know torch and hammer corals and the like are aggresive and when I get these later on, I will give them plenty of room, but what can be placed near my existing corals (in my sig) without danger of damage?

Hope this makes sense, I am trying to plan out what to get in the future and where to put it.

Mushrooms and leathers get along pretty well, as do different species of mushrooms. Some (like green stripe shrooms) will perhaps out-compete say ricordea or other types of shrooms, but even green stripes can live with leathrs. Mushrooms and Zoos can be placed next to each other, but the shrooms can/will grow over the zoos and basically smother them from light. Again, especially the case with longer-stalked species like green stripes.

Zooanthids and leathers will get along just fine and xenia will prolly be happy with anything softy wise as well.

Green star polyps get along with just about any other softy but they can sting and kill encrusting LPS and pretty much any SPS. They (like zoos) are also vulnerable to smothering...

And as you assumed, tentacled LPS, especially hammers will leave a swath of destruction around them :)
