well my CBS has a belly full of green eggs. and it is the only CBS im my tank the only other shrimp is a peppermint shrimp that knows to stay as far away as possible.

so how do CBS reproduce? after all this one has been im my tank 4 about 8 months now. and is just now got eggs.

i know you can buy them in a "mated pair" so i think that the eggs will not have anything to fertilize them, therefore will not be able to live.

anyone know anything about this?

Dam, I had a paper around this desk on CBS breeding, now I cant find it.

I do know its very difficult. The eggs have several different Larval stages, and recquire specialised foods and special care.

I do STRESS though, its VERY difficult to achieve a pair from two randomly selected CBS. Many studies have shown special methods are needed to achieve such goals, and even then, mortality is extremly high. Do not attempt to add another CBS to one already established in its home. It will result in a fight to the death. Not worth it.

Your quite right, without a suitable partner, your egg carrying CBS will not be holding fertilised, hence viable eggs. My old shrimp did this too. If stressed, she will abandon the eggs, releasing them for some tasty caviar for your hermits/worms.
