Copper Test

Is it possible that my copper test wont detect "buffered active copper"? I lost the instruction sheet that came with the test and I need to know the copper concentration in my QTs that im treating for ich in.

Do you have sand or rock in the qt tank? copper is easly absorbed into such things.
