Does anyone know if coppersafe will kill cleaner shrimp, the box states that only invertebrates without an exoskeleton need be removed. I found a hermit live and well in the tank today and was thinking about trying a cleaner shrimp.

Ram I'm in the process of using copper to get rid of some nasty's in my tank i have a cleaner shrimp in there right know and he is doing just fine he is going about his daily ritual of cleaning. if your are going to treat you tank take out all of your live rock and and other rock they may have benifical bacteria on because it will kill all your live rock if you leave it in there.

You put one drop per gallon and take out the carbon and let your filiter run for 10 day and do a 30% water change and put th carbon back in and run you tank for 5 day' sthey out can put you live stuff back in ( live rock) ect. :D

Cool, I have never tried it with anything but fish before.

LOL, copper scares me too. But also long as its on the other side of the room from my reef, I am all right with it. I just got a cleaner shrimp and am getting ready to add him to the tank. The Tangs will be so happy.

So let me get this straight?? I have wanted a cleaner shrimp in my fish only tank for ever but was afraid to get him because I figured he couldnt survive without live rock. I do have tangs and a bunch of fish....what do you think?

Holly crap, the shrimp is riding the tangs and they are fighting over who gets him, I hope he doesn't mind a little overtime.
I would think that as long as he has a place to hide, that he would be alright. Why dont you have live rock?
I also picked up two cleaner gobies. The tangs and my clown are going up the the bags and trying to get cleaned. How cool is that?

I have tried staying away from most inverst as we are doign a fish only tank. But I would like for our fish health reasons and cleaning some shrimp. But I am a little concerned about my picasso trigger, although he is friendly with all the other fish I place in the tank I dont know how he'd be with shrimp.

Ah, on second thought dont get a shrimp. Even a Cleaner goby will be dinner the exact second it hits the water with a trigger cruising around. You need a larger cleaning fish. I would look into a wrasse, or even some angles have been known to clean.

My understanding was coppersafe was a no-no for all shrimp.

A trigger will, in my experience, eat any invert it can catch.

In some places in the Phillipines, triggers can be caught using only a fishing pole and pieces of paper towel, or orange peels, on the ends of the lines. Talk about an indiscriminate appetite!

 That is so cool!! I'd love to see a picture of that! I'm thinking about getting a pistol shrimp to see it interact with my watchman goby. I didn't know about cleaner shrimp and tangs though :)
