Hey guys, due to this short stint of hot weather my tanks starting to get very hot. I have 2 windows which face the sun all day so my room gets to about 30℃ some days, the tank at the moment is at 27℃.
With my tropicals I would put a frozen bottle of water in the tank and let it float around till all the waters melted. Can I do this with marines or is there a safer way? I'm leaving the lights off for longer too due to algae growing.

thanks for any feedback :)

Most marine foke will run coolers with there tank but being you are in the UK. There's fans you can get to clip onto the side of the tank. Removing any warm air from the tanks surface.

You will have a hard time keeping the tank below room temp unless the room is only that hot for brief periods of time. Ice bottles can be used, but can cause temperature swings unless managed every couple of hours, so it's not something I would recommend in a marine tank except in an emergency like a power outage or if there is a heat wave for a couple of days when there is no other quick solution.

There are a couple of other options. First is a chiller, which is expensive, but they're sometimes the only option for tanks with no choice but to be subjected to really hot conditions every day for large portions of the summer. However, if it's just that ROOM and not the whole home, then you can focus on trying to fix the temperature in the room with air circulation to other parts of the house. Get fans to move air around like corner fans in the doorway or on ducts to cooler rooms and use fans to blow air across the water's surface to increase evaporative cooling - bearing in mind that you'll need to top up with freshwater more because of it.
