Wasn’t it magnificent?

I‘m still trying to figure out how to photograph my fish, a 5 second trip.

I have a Canon digital SLR EOS Rebel XT, circa 2005, possibly the very first model. Used extensively when I sold photos of my pet parrots to various bird magazines. Has a 70-210mm & a 18-55mm lens. Birds are easier than fish. All that water & glass!

Thinking my major problem is light. I’m afraid the flash will stress the fish & axies. I replaced the overhead lights in the fish room with powerful LEDs, forget what exactly now, but turning them on singes my eyeballs. I do believe the Fluval Aquasky can go higher, but haven‘t gone there yet. I probably need to learn how to use the flash, maybe by tilting up or down or off to one side. Not sure.

All photos posted here were using the iPad which doesn’t even have a flash.

Just have the flash pointing in the same direction as the lens.

Have the camera on a slight angle to the tank so the flash bounces away from the lens and doesn't leave a big white blob on the picture.

Use the 18-55mm lens.

Set shutter speed on 1/100 or 1/200

take pictures :)
