Convicts?

I used to have cichlids (mostly mbuna), but they killed each other ... I was thinking about starting em out again. This time i am have better knowladge. I still havent bred any cichlids and was thinking, hey convicts are apparently so easy, why not try.

How many of them should i buy... i have a 30 gal, its fairly large. Will they pair off by themselves eventually? also got other breedin' tanks too.

A pair of convicts will do fine in a 30 gallon.

Female cons usually have orange/red markings on their belly.

a flat rock such as slate, or a turned over flowerpot would make a good spawning site, although they may choose to to dig a hole in the substrate and spawn on the glass.

Be careful though, before you know it you'll have an army of them. They breed like rabbits.
