Pretty self explanitory, but could i feasibly put a single convict cichlid in a 10g tank?

There wouldn't be anything else with it....

As a permanent home? I would say no. You could....... but I don't think that is large enough for a cichlid that size. If you cannot afford something larger, wait until you can provide a larger home with multiple fish.

20 gallons would be more appropriate imo.

yes you could put one in, but you'd need to take it out. even 20g is a little small for a single convict, but its fine. but thats not very exciting now is it? get yourself a 75g and put an oscar in it. haha

likewise, yes, but not for long, they do use a whole 4ft in my house, and the males get a good size, tho if he was happy and had a good quality of life in other ways, then why not, they are quite friendley fish ( recognise you etc) maybe give a whirl and see? :)

Are there smaller, more appropriate chiclids that could fit one in a ten gallon?

I have a 29g community tank and am going to move the rest of my fish from my 10g into it. I was wondering what kind of fish i could put in the 10g that are nt community.

At a push with nothing else a single Apistogramma. But they are social fish and would prefer company.

Kribs aren't very aggressive but are cichlids and you could fit a pair in there.

Put a betta fish in there. He would love you :D

I really would not try to put any sort of cichlid in a 10gal... it's just pushing it.... plus, you want them to have plenty of room to swim around or it's just not fun.

You could get away with a singel Keyhole cichlid.
