I have a 12l (just over 3 gallon) glass goldfish bowl that I want to convert to keep a betta (I have a small heater and filter on the way, and plans for a perspex cover to keep fish in and cats out!) I know they don't need light, but I don't like fake plants so would like to keep a couple of real ones in there. So rather than trying to attach a light to the bowl, I thought I could use a desk lamp (something like this) Would it need a special bulb?
Thanks for any help :)

Not sure that would be safe due to the moisture and condensation. :/

Also a 12l bowl imo is not suitable for a betta imo - not enough room for him to swim. I had mine in a 35l bowl and he was much happier in a 35l rectangular tank. Sorry

That looks fab tom, thanks for the link. I wonder if it'd clamp to a round bowl?

That's really cool truck-nice and minimal and batteries, so no wires trailing. There isn't a surface above that I could stick it to, but perhaps I could modify the perspex cover-Hmmm!
How far above the bowl should it be?

Hmmm, one site quotes 100 hours battery light-that could get expensive!
