Hi,
I have the chance to buy a marine tank for a fairly cheap price. I was wondering seeing as I am not ready to start a Marine setup, could I use the tank as a Tropical setup. In other words, will I be able to use the fitted sump filter and lights or will I have to change anything. The sump filter contains pyramedia with collosal surface area for maximum filtration. The sump also contains 1x 300 watt visitherm heater and 1x 150 watt backup heater and a UV sterilizer. I know i won't be able to use the skimmer, so that will not be used. The lighting includes 4 x T5 flourescent lights all 48" long. The setup also includes a wavemaker, which I guess would be too turbulent for tropical fish. Any ideas would be very welcome.
Many thanks
Ian
P.S. sorry if this is in the wrong section, but I thought it would be best to put it here.

eaily done although is it second hand because you will have to most deffinately change the media in the sump and the powerhead(wave maker) should be okay how big is the tank and what fish are you getting making it more easier for us to find out the combatibility :D

Hiya willtang3000,
The tank is 48"x18"x24", that is 18 deep and 24 high. I will be setting it up as a planted community tank with kribs, clown loach, tetras, plec etc. I would like to start off by getting the plants right as I have been studying alot about planted tanks and will be using a pressurised CO2 system (as I had problems with a DIY setup). I'm not sure if the plants and quiter fish will like the wave maker or not. But as I say it will be a basic community setup which I will carefully stock with compatible species. There will also be plenty of hiding places and also a large area in the centre for the shoaling fish. Hopefully this will help you. Mnay thanks for your advice so far.
Ian
Edit: Got to do this, been trying to get the wife to allow me to have a bigger tank and she has finely agreed as long as she gets my 30" one lol.
