My friend has a betta that is so constipated I think he’s in danger of dying. He looks like he’s swallowed two or three good-sized marbles, he is HUGE. But he refuses to eat the peas that might help him. What else could we try besides zucchini and cucumber? I told my friend to feed him absolutely no protein, and it’s been a week, but he is so stubborn he just won’t eat those peas!

could it be dropsy, is the betta pineconed, if not try not feeding the betta anything at all for 3 days, and keep us updated

I would avoid feeding him for several days. I had a little CT that was bloated last week and I fasted him for four days and now he's right as rain.

Live food always flies through the digestive tract. Perhaps some grindals if you guys don't want to fast.

I'd recognize dropsy, and he doesn't have it. Other than being horrifically bloated (only in the top portion of hid body where his organ are) he looks normal. No pineconing and he sinks and rises fine, though he has trouble turning and such because he's so huge.

He feeds the fish pellets and freeze dried bloodworms usually.

I'll see if I can find some grindals in that dying culture.

Also he hasn't eaten ANYTHING in an entire week. He's not being fed the food he will eat and he refuses to eat the peas and that's all that's offered.

If he recovers tell the owner to get frozen food and veg into the betta's diet, as to many dried foods cause constipation and swimbladder, good luck hope he get's well again..
