Sadly, considering the amount of room I have right now, I'm going to have to put getting a 30 gallon on hold for the moment (hopefully in the not so far future it will happen...).
Anyway, I was thinking about setting up another ten in a couple of months or so. My stand is a dual tank stand...and well, that's just asking for trouble. I'm sure you all understand. :)
With my other ten, I've gotten the fish I really wanted for a small community tank. I was wanting to do something a little different with this tank. I don't mind keeping a single fish or a species tank for this tank, but I know I'm limited with a tank so small.
I know exactly what everyone's going to suggest. I've already looked into dwarf puffers and I think they are adorable. Sadly, I can't find them anywhere around here...the only puffer carried around here is the figure eight (which I think I could watch forever in the petstore...puffers are definately funny little fish.) I'm trying to find a fish that I can buy here instead of ordering online and paying shipping costs (mostly because it's already going to cost me enough to set the tank up ;) ).
I'm pretty open to any suggestions. :)
Thanks in advance.

Hi Rhapsody,

I got a some 8 UK gallon tanks (don't know what that is US gallon terms - smaller i think) for the kids for Christmas.

Although you are limited to the number of fish - especially if you want bigger fish, you can still make some really interesting tanks.

I chose for my sons tank to make a South American Biotope with a pair of Cocatoo Cichlid (Dwarf variety), male and female, some pencil fish (which look boring in the lfs, but because they dither and shoal at different angles, they really add loads of interet to the tank, and some neons for colour and activity.

Add that with the plants and a couple of shot glasses for caves, and the tank looks really excellent (imo  )

It is now my favourite tank albeit one of the smallest ones.

My wifes 8 Gallon, has a Black Ghost Knife (which i know will need re-housing when it grows a bit more) and a Butterfly Fish (wanted to keep this as an African Biotope - but the wife really liked the Butterfly fish!). Two fish, one tank - but still loads of interest - when you can see the fish when they are not hiding!!

If you have a good lfs, why not bend their ear for suggestions as well as they know what they have in stock and what they can get easily.

Good luck - post some piccies when you've done it.

Neil.
