Hi guys apologies for the 'same old questions'.

Im thinking about delving into the world of Marines, I have a 5ft Tropical at the mo but want a small cube for the lounge as a nice little corner piece.

I have been looking attanks today and only want a small cube, perhaps anything from 20-50 litres.

If I was to go for a 20litre which is et up for tropicals what would I need to add to it?

Also in a 20l (im saying 20 as smallest case scenario) how many fish/rocks could I responsibly put in?

My final question is this.....I have an empty tank at the mo which I think must be around 80-90 litres off the top of my head, I have a stingray internal filter for it. Could I potentially just add live rock and sand, a heater and a light and RO water and have a marine set up or do I need a protein skimmer and power heads as well?

Thanks in advance and apologies also haha

lol, we all ask it :)

lucky :)

20 litres is small, i have a 60l orca tl450, id suggest looking at that or bigger. 20 litres is dooable, but much more demanding and restricting.

Live rock, sand (not live sand, rip off), protein skimmer, powerhead (or use the pump from an old tropical filter, marine blue light and a more powerful light if you wish to keep corals

Also in a 20l (im saying 20 as smallest case scenario) how many fish/rocks could I responsibly put in?

small goby im guessing 5kg of rock (but check on a calculator on this site) and a CUC (clean up crew)

80-90 litres is a much better volume, i regret not getting bigger than my orca lol. yer, you could add the LR, sand, etc and i strongly reccomend using a skimmer. As i said befor, you can use that filter as a powerhead, but depending on the shape of tank and rockscape etc may need another powerhead

Thanks in advance and apologies also haha

you welcome :)

you mean skimmers....

Thanks for the advice guys, Bollands, im really sorry, im not 100% sure I understand you haha are they protein skimmers, power heads, filters???

no, a skimmer is another piece of equipment completely,

you need a filter, skimmer, lights, live sand, live rock, ro water etc

Bollands is talking about protein skimmers. he has 2 of the cheap boyu models which he is offering you.

simple :)

james :)
