There! ;0)
I have been conditioning a male and female betta for 3 weeks. Today I floated her in his tank in a jar, she barred up and went crazy, and he flared up and went mad too. So I let her out after about half an hour, the male was addding bubbles to his nest, and she was still barred up. The male started chasing her, and she was swimming away, but still barred up. Do you think they will still spawn if he gives her a little encouragement? :hey:  Or should I take her out?

Did you read the pinned topics on breeding? It can sometimes take days for them to spawn. If he's not beating her up then they should be ok in there. Just keep an eye on them.

Well he's not beating her up, but I'll keep an eye on them. No, actually I haven't read all the pinned topics on breeding here! :*) I'll check them out.

I often forget about the pinned topics  but there is some good information in them and links to other sites. You will see that there are quite a few different ways of introducing a pair for spawning and not all of them work for certain pairs of bettas. I have only one pair spawned so far and it was accidental.

I tried a few weeks ago to spawn the same dad with another female but he wouldn't blow a nest and the female just got aggro with him so I took her out. I tried again a week later with the same female he spawned with before but again he wasn't interested and just swam around with her. They did embrace and she dropped eggs but he wasn't interested in picking them up and didn't make a nest so she was desperately trying to do it herself. I took her out and he just ate all the eggs so I've given up trying for now :/

Its not as simple as it seems LOL!

You were on the right track. The females need at least 24 to 30 hours to start laying eggs. It sounds yours are doing fine because she still has the stripe bars. It is a torture stage right now so leave them along. :D
