i realize that boht the males and the female bettas have to be conditioned before breeding (not saying i plant o breed them right yet, please don't kill me), i'm just doing my part of the research to see if it's a possibitliy for me :p

anyhow, here's the situation, i have 4 male bettas in a 10G tank with dividers, and 3 females (wtih other types of fish) in a 25G. My question is this...coul di condition the males wihtout moving htem out of hte 10G tank? what about the females? how on earth am i suppose to conditioin them  i find that when i feed bloodworms, the other fishies usually get to it before hte female does.

If it's any use, here's what i have my 25G

3 otos
3 female bettas
2 guppies
10 white clouds
4 shrimps

As well, in the breeding tank, do i need to have a filter/heater and all that stuff? i only ahve those two tnaks right now (currently tryign to find a third), but i dont' want to spend money to get another set of filter/heater/air pump. I guess heater is sorta needed right, but is a filter realy necessary? :X

I heard that the breeding tank should have a bare bottom (no gravel or anything), how do i put plants in there? (fake ones will do right?)

my main concern is trying to condiiotn my males :) if any body here with expierence can shine some light here i'll be very thankful

You can keep the males in there tanks and condition them. Just make sure they all eat and get their fair share of foods. SOme people say that to condition them you put them together in a tank next to or divider. ALthough that isnt necessary and i have heard this also. (I keep my fish in dividers with 1 male and female for look purposes and for breeding). IF you want you can put your females in another tank to condition or in something else to make sure they get their food, but i would just add a little bit more food or just separate in condos to make sure they get it.

Also for a breeding tank you will need a heater, and if you want a filter(not necessary, but makes keeping tank clean) get a sponge filter that you can set to a lower speed to keep everyone healthy.

No gravel is a perfect and desired for breeding. Use floating plants like frill. cobomba, and many others, also anacrais(?) is good because it floats and oxygenates the water also. You can add plastic plants and let them just set in there. But from experience, you dont want to much plants where the males and female wont ever see each other.

Hmm anything else let me know. HTH
