just noticed there is some condinsation on the inside of the heater in my betta tank. im assuming this is not safe. is it ok to leave it heating the tank untill i return it tomorrow or should i leave it pluged out.
It does happen occasionally, but it's nothing to worry about. My four year old Visitherm sometimes gets condensation inside, but it never lasts more than a day or two. It wouldn't hurt to buy another one, just to put away as a spare.
Condensation inside the heater can only mean it's no longer water tight. Unless its one of those crappy glass with the blue top that clamps onto the rim.
If the heater is submersible a small amount of condensation is ok, just keep an eye on it to make sure it's not increasing. All of my heaters are submersible except for the one in my quarantine tank. It is "one of those crappy glass with the blue top that clamps onto the rim" heaters . I totally forgot it was not submersible when I was cleaning it in the sink and didn't realize what I had done until I plugged it back in and the water that had gotten inside of it started boiling . I didn't have a backup heater, so I was up until 1am on a school night trying to dry it out. That night I learned how a crappy heater worked. I still have that heater on my quarantine tank, but I now have a backup .
