Hiya,

I'm currently cycling a 6 gallon tank. Today I went to do a partial water change and put some plants in so I lifted the lid right up rather than just opening the little feeding hatch (it's an aqua one aqua start 320 the lid is hinged across the back so you can lift the whole thing up). When I did this, the amount of condensation that literally poured off the inside of the lid and all down the back of the tank all over the stand & floor was huge.

I immediately switched off all the electricals and set to mopping the mess up and drying everything - don't really want to go through this every week - any suggestions?

The water level is about an inch and a half below where the coloured plastic starts so a good 4 inches from the inside of the lid - don't want to lower it any more as that would mean there wouldn't be much in it and I wouldn't want to put the betta I'm getting in - making it a pointless tank!!

Thanks

Vicky.

I had this problem before and the solution is very easy.
All you need is a plastic lid that sits under the main lid but above the water level, this lid can also be used for algae snails.
The condensation will then just stick to the plastic lid which will let light through and is easy to take off or put back on. Therefore it prevents your main lid from rusting and prevents any water loss.
You can buy a plastic lid at any shop which sells algae snails or fish.
Good luck it worked for me!

the plastic lid is a condensation tray i reccommend you get one but some need to be cut to fit some tanks. Also what shop would sell algae lol.
