I have a really bad condersation problem with my fish tank! I bought a drip tray to stop water dripping from the lid of the tank and because my tank hasn't got a glass lip inside to hold the tray it's usless! What can I use? I have tried to get in contact with Juwel company and am awaiting reply! Cheers guys

It comes from inside the lid and runns out of the tank onto the cabinet somehow! Ive opened on of the feeding holes on the lid now, maybe that will let some steam out!

You could try a condensation tray that sits on the rim of the tank - you'd probably need to order a larger one.

This might work or it might not, it depends on the design of your hood.

I could try that. It's hard explaining the lid! I though this problem would be common on this forum but looks to me not a lot of people have Juwel 96 tanks. The hood seems to be a tiny bit too big for the tank. maybe about 2cm. Could this be the problem?.

I have 3 tanks a Rekord 96 , Rekord 120 and a small 2ft Rena tank and they all leak from the hood. I don't think you are alone in this but I haven' thought of a way around it yet. Time to get our thinking caps on.

They are great tanks but the condersation is a big problem! has it destroyed the cabinet on yours?

I used to have a Rekord 96L and it did collect condensation in the lid but it never leaked down the tank or the cabinet, just dripped back into the tank.

Ok, so not too familiar with your tank but how about sticking self adhesive foam door insulation strip around the hood where it sits on the tank rim and do away with the condensation tray? :|

That could be the problem, sounds like there might be a gap between the egde of the hood and the rim.

As i'm not familiar with Jewl tanks, it would be helpful if you could get some pictures of your hood up.Then we should be able to find a way of stopping the condensation.

ive heard of people putting 2 cpu fans in the hood one in one out i hear this helps

I think i have solved the problem! my leaving a gap open in the feeding hole on the top! Its been like this for two days and the condersation hasn't been dripping out! but another problem has come! When I took everything out of the tank to check for cracks/broken glass last week thinking this is why the water was leeking, a friend of mine gave me some gravel so I changed it. I rinsed it out untill the water was clear as you do. The tank looks better now with the new gravel but I have notices some funny looking creatures in the tank. Some wierd snails and wood lices! Is this going to harm the fish?

Glad you've got it sorted.

To remove the snails you could buy a snail trap - don't think they cost a lot.

To be honest the snails i dont mind unless they much on my plants! but it's the bugs! theres wood lice also some poo! I know its not fish poo! The fishes look okay but my cat fish died this morning! :shout: Ive got a gravel cleaner so Im gonna give it a good clean tonight
