ive did a little research on conchs but only seem to find things on the queen conch. I dont know anythings about them and was wondering if there is more species then just the queen conch, which im sure there is. And are they all reef safe?? i know they are great detritus eaters though? any comments on them?

Other species: bunches of them! Fighting conches are quite common.
Reef safe: yep, although some climbing species (like Strombus luhuanus) will jump off rocks and squash stuff...don't put anything fragile in a landing zone.
Other comments: awsome guys to keep, easily out-competed by some other substrate cleaners, so even the smaller species may need suplimental feeding if not in something like a 50+ gallon tank. They are also easily had by crabs and things, so the cleanup crew must be 100% snail-friendly. They also need a lot of floor space to hop around.

I've got a small fighting conch, he's an interesting little thing to watch.
He does a fairly good job cleaning the sand, and when he's not doing that he buries himself in the sand. Between him and the snail, my detritus gets eaten.
I'd recommend one :good:
