After a bad algae incident a few months ago i decided to completely redo my 10Gallon tank
i replaced the sand, filter media, and cleaned all the decorations.

its been over a month now and the tank is fully cycled and i have:
1male guppy
1 female guppy
and 1 otto

ive had the male and female guppy for a month and they have been doing great together, i havent noticed any problems of the male harrassing the female
and the otto is nice and fat just like he/she should be lol

the female guppy has been fat since i bought her and was the reason i bought her so i could get some baby guppies but she hasnt given birth yet
i dont think it takes a guppy over a month to give birth, shes still fat and looks pregnant but still no babies

anyways, i really wana add a few more fish but cant decide what else would go great with guppies
i am going to add another female guppy but also want a few other small fish (no more platies please!)

i'll also be getting a bigger tank soon but dont want more than 6 fish

any recomendations on what i should get? i want something active that also looks great but doesnt get very big

Does your female have a gravid spot?

I keep my guppies with african dwarf frogs and cherry shrimp :) All are quite happy. Good luck.

i feel the same way about fish as you
i hate platies lol

i have a 5 gallon tank i just got rid of all my guppy fry except for 2 of them and i added a reallyyy fancy looking molly
hes bright orange and has orange dots on his tale, so i would deffinatly recomend you look for one or two of those
and if you want something really exotic look for a galaxy rasbora, ive been trying to find some for w while now but ive had no luck
you could always try a dwarf gourami, sparkling gouami, or honey gourami, all great peacefull fish
maybe even a glass cat or indian glass tetra, there completly clear except for there eyes and head and its awesome to look at them digesting food
all of these (except for the galaxys) should be availible at your local fish store

good luck!

Get another 5 otos, they do much better in groups. :good:

And then maybe add a african dwarf frog?

yes the female has a gravid spot and has had one ever since i bought her

i'll see if i can get a clear pic of her to post here

its not that i hate platies its just ive had some bad experiences with them

im definately gona get a few more ottos but i doubt i'll get more than 2 or 3, 5 just seems a little too much for a 10gallon tank

Then she's pregnant.

I'd say more otos, too. Lovely little fish and happiest in groups.

Glass catfish need to be in schools and need a much bigger tanks. Mollies really need a bigger tank and can be quite fussy about water parameters. A dwarf gourami might get aggressive towards the guppy. Galaxy rasboras are threatened in the wild due to overcollection, so you should really only buy those if you are able to set up a breeding tank.

A gravid spot is not a definite sign that a female guppy is pregnant; some virgin females who have never been near a male will start showing gravid spots when they are a few months old: the pregnancy test is when the gravid spot starts growing.
