Hi:

As you can see in my signature, I have an angel (who is now dying) and a bunch of tetra's.

My local fish dealer told me today that tetras will pick on angels until they die.

Somewhere else in this forum, I read that angels eat neons...

So obviously, it seems I shouldn't replace my angel when he dies...

Another question:

My fish dealer says blue gouramis are aggressive.

I had one the first days the tank was set up and he seemed very peaceful.
I think he died from cycling problems.

Does any of you have experience with blue gouramis mixed with tetra's?

In their natural environment, angels are a predator of neons. Of course the angel must be large enough to be able to get the neon in its mouth. Pretty much any fish will pick on a dying fish. Its just easy food as it won't fight back much and can't really swim away. I'd suggest a QT tank for the angel to try and save it.

Gouramis can be aggressive. I would put them in the same catagory as angels. They also grow larger than neons, and in turn will eat them if they can catch them. HTH

Are ypou sure? I thought they were only aggressive to other similar species, i.e. gouramis, bettas, etc.

Well, my experience has been they are pretty aggressive. Mine lived with 2 9" oscars in a 150 gal and the oscars wouldn't dare bother the gourami. You might have a different experience.

well i got my 2 angels in my tank with a bunch of tetras they picked on them at first but then one day quit lol and now leave them be mabe buy more angels to back him up mine stay close to each other
