plecs are not something I've kept much before, mainly due to their potential size, but I've a nice 60x24x18 tank now with Uaru's and Angels and a few buts and pieces. I bought a lovely wee golden nugget and rescued a 5 inch plec from a friends tank, I've seen a red tail sternella (or leopard plec) and was wondering would the 3 co-exist ok in a 5ft tank with plenty of bogwood hideaways?

Yeah I think the three big plecs would be your limit in that tank though as the footprint should just be able to cope with their teritory requirements. Which gold nugget plec is it there are three L numbers with that common name, all very nice but of the three there is an big size difference between each I think one maxes at 8inch one at 10inch and the other at 12 and the waste difference between an 8 inch plec and a 12 inch plec is quite a lot.

One more thing to watch with these beasts is the poop and water quality what kind of filtration do you have on this? Seen as its a big tank Im guessing an external? Just wondering what your GPH is for it. :)

I forget the number of the Gold Nugget but I remember researching it before I bought it and it genearlly tops out at 8 inches (L81 rings a bell..). Poop has been well noted and I try to vac my gravel at least once a week. I'm running 2 eheim 2217s on the tank, I bought the tank and one pump second hand and the guy threw the other one in free as he was clearing his fish house, so I thought I might as well put it to use! So if you go by the manufacturers claims it's somethin like 2000l/h although I would say this is a bit hopeful.
